Stained glass for windows: beautiful, but also functional.

Stained glass for windows: beautiful, but also functional.

When you think of stained glass windows or doors, you might imagine windows that look beautiful, but lack the functionality of a traditional window. For instance, large church stained glass windows that are decorative, but cannot let any air in because they don’t open.

However, this is not always the case. Stained glass windows can actually open, and provide other sorts of functionality that you might not have even thought of. Using our specialized installation techniques, Fort Worth Stained Glass is able to install stained glass that will fit any window without compromising the functionality.

How does stained glass functionality work? We accomplish this by creating the stained glass panel in our workshop, and installing it by bonding it to the inside of the existing glass pane currently in your window. This serves several purposes. We do not have to uninstall your existing glass, making the installation process clean and quick. Your brand new stained glass panel is protected from the elements by the original glass. It is caulked into place, ensuring no dust or dirt gets between the stained glass panel and the original window. And your windows will still open, allowing you the freedom to take advantage of Fort Worth’s delightful fresh air any season of the year.

How’s that for stained glass functionality?

But there is more to stained glass functionality and practicality than just functional windows. Here are some of the other things our clients use stained glass windows for, aside from just adding beauty to their homes.

Custom Stained Glass Fort Worth

1. Privacy: If you have windows that open a bit too close to a neighbor’s home, if you have an inner city condo on a ground floor on a busy main street, if you don’t like the idea that anyone can see inside your home through the sidelights on either side of your front door—then you want more privacy. Clear, frosted stained glass designs will give you the privacy your crave while still letting natural light stream into your home.

2. Value: Adding stained glass adds real dollar value to your home, and if you ever put it on the market, it adds an enormous amount of value in buyer attraction. Your stained glass windows might just be the one thing that gets you an eager buyer who loves your house and meets your price.

3. View: In this case, we are talking about an undesirable one. Does your inner city home or office face a parking lot, or a brick wall, or any other unattractive view? Change it to a stunning piece of art you will never grow tired of. Stained glass is phenomenal in a finished basement, the kind with those little slit windows that open out on a view of a drain or window guard. If you’ve gone through the expense of creating a lovely finished basement space to be used as an office, family or entertainment room, or extra bedroom, why not go the extra mile and add some stained glass to those ugly windows!
